Chris Apy, a Mission San Jose senior who has just received the Robert Vun Yau Lee memorial Scholarship Award for Excellence in Performance Arts, has been very busy lately. He is starring as Gaston in the Starstruck musical Disney’s Beauty and the Beast performance at the Smith Center at Ohlone College from July 19 - August 4, 2024. Also appearing in the show is Jing Yee-Bowen, daughter of Jeff Bowen (SBCC Secretary) and June Yee.

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, Our Scholarship Committee Chair, Jane Line watched the performance along with Scholarship Committee member June Yee, Dr. Fran Gin, and others. They were in awe of the talents exhibited by the young cast members.

This will be Chris’ final performance at Starstruck as he will be attending USC majoring in Theater in the Fall. The show will end on Sunday, August 4, 2024. A limited number of seats are still available. A number of SBCC members are planning to attend the Friday, August 2 show. Our members who have seen the performance highly recommended it.
