2024 Joong (粽) Wrapping

Participation in joong (粽) wrapping is a Chinese tradition to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival which occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar.

A group of SBCC members gathered on July 21 to wrap joong , a sticky rice dumpling, to take home to cook.

The newbies in the group were instructed by Donna Chan of Belmont, how to fold the bamboo leaves, assemble the ingredients and tie the final product securely for cooking.

Each member took home between 4-10 joongs depending on how large or small ones were made.
