The 2024 SBCSC Scholarship Awards banquet was held on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2024, at the Pearl Bay Restaurant in Fremont.

Our keynote speaker was Ms. Jazmine Tabili, the Business Development Team Lead at Uber Health International Pod, a part of the inaugural Global Healthcare Partnerships team at Uber. She helped launch the Uber Health market in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand — establishing a whole new system of non-emergency transport services in these countries.

This year, we have awarded 37 scholarships for a record total of $58,500 to 34 graduating seniors at the Fremont, Newark, and Union City areas.

Among the scholarship recipients, there are 5 students with a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA. The average GPA of the 34 students is 3.90. They have also accumulated a total of 12,467 community service hours.

Please go to the 2024 Scholarship Recap page to view the list of the scholarship recipients, read the press release and the student essay that received the Best Essay Award.

SBCC/SBCSC celebrated the 2024 Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon, 4722) with our traditional Chinese New Year Banquet at the Mayflower Restaurant in Milpitas on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

SBCC members and their family and friends were treated to a delicious 9-course dinner and were entertained by a beautiful performance of a traditional Chinese fan dance by two talented sisters, Christy and Megan, daughters of members Edwin and Wincy Ng.

This year’s banquet was a great success under the coordination of Linette Young, Maelene Wong, and Lorrie Wong, along with the help of many Club members. In the many years that we have held this celebration dinner, this was the largest number of people ever attending.
