A Salute to Chinese American WWII Veterans

Join us for this exciting and informative program “OUR GREATEST GENERATION: A Salute to Chinese American WWII Veterans” on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Fremont Main Branch Library from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fukaya Rooms. At 12:15 p.m., there will be a screening of the documentary “We Served with Pride” by filmmaker Montgomery Hom. A hands-on workshop after the film will provide librarian assistance with research for the medal.

  • Keynote speakers: Douglas Wong, Ed Gor (C.A.C.A.) will explain the significance of the campaign and how descendants of Chinese American WWII veterans can register for a personal medal replica.

  • A citizen panel will tell personal narratives of their WWII Chinese American Veteran’s service.

  • A short “open mic” will give audience members a chance to acknowledge their family’s WWII Chinese Veterans. (SBCC members Sue Chan and Gerry Sabado will be speaking about their WWII veteran ancestors.)
