Post Award Banquet Activities

  • May 24, 2022 - SBCSC Scholarship Chair Jane Lin attended the Irvington High School’s virtual Award Night.

  • May 26, 2022 - SBCSC Scholarship Chair Jane Lin attended the in-person American High School Awards Night to present the scholarships to the 8 AHS scholarship recipients. Below is the introduction by Assistant Principal George Vuong at the ceremony:
    ”The South Bay Chinese Service Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors of Chinese descent.  Grade point average, school activities, special achievements and community service, along with a personal essay and letter of recommendation, are looked at for consideration.  

    We had 8 students that were recognized at the South Bay Chinese Service Club dinner banquet, where they received their scholarship, certificates and plaque.  AHS and the club would like to recognize them in front of their classmates.”

  • The Scholarship Committee is very excited to learn the good news that our recipient Jonathan Cheng (Irvington High School), who was awarded the McGrath RentCorp Excellence in STEM and the Gerry Low-Sabado Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Education, was also awarded a scholarship from the Fremont Unified District Teachers Association (FUDTA) for his interest in education.  Jonathan will be attending Rice University to pursue his dream of becoming a high school math teacher.  Jonathan was the valedictorian and completed more than 350 community service hours centered around teaching math.  He wrote and published his own math workbook which has been sold worldwide.
